Should I seek medical advice?

If you have any underlying health issues (i.e., Heart condition, kidney condition, diabetes etc), then medical advice is a priority. Also, if you have any existing long-term injuries, we advise you to see a health professional before you commence training with us. We do have a lot of knowledge of the body, but we are not health practitioners.

Do you have dietary/nutrition plans?

Our coaches are able to provide you with a guide to healthy eating habits that will support your training and exercise schedule.
If you do require comprehensive meal planning then we suggest you engage a dietitian or nutritionist. We can refer you to some contacts in our SMART Allied Health partnerships that we work closely with in this field if required.

Is Strength and Conditioning training worth it?

Yes, in short. Strength and Conditioning training can assist you to bring everything together in your training. With the appropriate program you’ll find that you will be not only stronger, but a more balanced athlete. 1-2 sessions per week is recommended.

If I swim more, will I get faster?

While your general fitness may improve if you swim more, to really improve strength, swim technique and efficiency you will need a swim coach and some training with a squad.
At SMART Coaching we emphasise working smarter, not harder. By using a swim coach or participating in a squad, or both, you will gradually increase your swim performance and minimise any over training or injury. The length and intensity of workouts are gradually increased with the guidance of a coach, and as the athlete’s body adapts and gets stronger, lap times drop, swim technique is improved and your overall performance improves.

Can a coach help me fit training into my busy schedule?

Yes. We are all about making work, life balance fit for you. Our coaching is structured about your schedule and we are very experienced at balancing the team and schedule to maximize your training. We are experienced with working with busy professionals, shift workers, small business owners and those that juggle it all.

You are twice as likely to achieve your goal with a training plan and a coach. We maximise your time and respond to your needs and load, saving you time as all the progression and planning is done for you. 

Each plan is customised, responding to you, the individual. With years of experience in all three disciplines, SMART Coaching ensures you will receive he best possible outcome to achieve your goal.

Do you have any rehabilitation services as part of your coaching?

Yes. We offer a number of preventative and post training rehabilitation services. If you are a social or competitive athlete, you stand to benefit significantly from the effects of Remedial Massage. We also offer a number of Pilates programs and classes designed to improve your posture, form and balance which plays a big part in your athletic performance and athletic endurance.
